CHILDHOOD
Walt Disney was born on December 5th, 1901. He was born in
Chicago, Illinois. Walt's full name is Walter Elias Disney. He was named after
his father's minister friend, Walter.He had 3 older brothers and 1 younger
sister. His brothers' names were Herbert, Raymond, and Roy. And his sister's
name was Ruth.
When he was young, his family moved to a 48 acre farm
in Marceline, Missouri in 1896. This farm was the farm in which all his inspirations came to place.The
animals on the farm gave him his inspiration. When he was alone on the farm one day, he found a bucket of tar. He picked it up, grabbed a stick, and started painting onto a side of the barn.His father didn't appreciate this. So his father beat him up. Walt learned that he shouldn't
paint on the house, so he started to draw on toilet paper.

TEENAGE YEARS
In 1917 Walt's dad acquired shares in the O-ZELL jelly factory in Chicago and moved with his family back into the city. Disney then began his freshman year at McKinley High School and took night courses at the Chicago Art Institute. At the Art Institute he became the cartoon artist for the school newspaper, drawing patriotic topics and focusing on
World War I. He dropped out of High School at age sixteen to join the army, but he was rejected for being underage. After being rejected by the army,Walt and a friend decided to join the Red Cross. Soon after joining Walt was sent to France for a year to drive an ambulance. Disney came back from France and moved back to Kansas City to begin his artist career, which began in 1920.
